Music is an important part of the process in writing for me. I’ve always been the sort of person who thrives off of the music they listen to, in any given situation. Road Trip? When A.M Wright and I started to write “The Shrike & the Shadows,” I started a score playlist to listen to – to capture the atmosphere I imagined in our novel. For me, it was so important to be in the right mind-frame to write our dark fairytale retelling. All of it was inspired by the song A.M Wright originally shared with me, when we began to plan out our story:

When I write, scenes almost unfold in my mind like a movie; so added dialogue can at times, kill the situation.
