Formerly a radio deejay, television news producer, and national award winning teacher, Sharon Lacey is now an internationally touring comedian. She performs in comedy clubs all across North America and has been on two comedy tours to entertain U.S. troops in Kuwait and Iraq. Sharon has been to Africa four times, where she performs for Ugandan audiences in two of their tribal languages. She also brings desperately needed supplies to the children and elderly in Ugandan villages.

You’ve seen Sharon on the Disney Channel, ABC, Lifetime, and A&E. She is an alumnus of the San Francisco and Seattle Comedy Competitions, the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, NW Women’s Comedy Festival, finalist in Seattle’s Got Funny Competition, runner up in Portland’s Rose City Talent Contest, and a finalist in the A.M. I must give an honorable mention to THE JEWEL OF ST. PETERSBURG by Kate Furnival, I highly recommend it. It’s a wonderfully layered romantic Russian saga that definitely belongs in my top five but, alas, I ran out of room!


I loved the writing style in this book—it’s crisp, intelligent, engaging and witty! The characters grow well beyond the pages and are emotionally evocative! 

#4. BLACKBIRD by Jennifer Lauck. 

Simply one of the best autobiographies I’ve ever read—a remarkably touching tearjerker!

 #3. THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH by Ken Follett

A surprisingly engrossing epic that grips you with its emotional depth! What it has to offer by way of 12th century English drama, politics and church building may astonish you! 

#2. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO by Alexandre Dumas. The original revenge saga—and what an epic saga it is! For those with the eyes to see it, this book is about much more than you might think. An enduring saga of the soul!

#1. THE GOOD EARTH by Pearl S. Buck. This is one of the most emotionally compelling stories in all literature! A complex rags-to-riches saga set in China that explores life, love and relationships with a marvelously engrossing depth.

Honorable mention of THE GREEN MILE (1999)—a unique and original drama that you can watch over and over and always notice something you hadn’t seen before! 

#5. THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965). This American staple features an Austrian family that you never forget, and works its way into your heart with its beautifully timeless music and dynamite direction! What’s not to love?

#4. BRAVEHEART (1995). I just love the scale and scope of this story, the Scottish setting and William Wallace’s unwavering demonstration of true courage.

#3. THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994). This unforgettable movie has a most compelling narrator in Red, and top-notch performances! It’s what filmmaking’s all about!

#2. GONE WITH THE WIND (1939). Simply one of the greatest movies of all time—if not the greatest movie of all time. Many people think it is, hands down. Why? Well, if you’ve ever seen it then you already know!

#1. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011). A more recent favorite of mine so I’m giving it the honor of the #1 spot! It’s a dangerously intricate and unpredictably mysterious thriller with raw and compelling twists that just leave you gasping. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for?
